Holiday Season Hot Drinks

When I was little I remember snow on Thanksgiving every year. Times change and even if we don’t have snow for Christmas you can guarantee that it will be cold here in Central New York.12 Warm You Up Winter Holiday Drink #Recipes

There is nothing better than coming in from the barn (or sledding) to a house filled with the scent of hot mulled cider or minty hot cocoa. Almost makes you want to go back outside just so you can come back in again.

In anticipation of freezing fingers and ruby red noses I’ve put together a round up of warm-you-up hot drinks perfect for the holiday season from November to the end of  winter.

Spiked Almond Joy Hot Chocolate from Tipsy Chickens

Let’s kick it off with a new favorite of mine, I took all the flavors of my number one candy bar and shoved them into a mug of hot chocolate! There is no better way to warm up than with coconut, almond and dark chocolate together with a healthy dollop of whipped cream.

spiced-pomegranate-apple-ciderSpiced Apple-Pomegranate Cider from Goodlife Eats

I think pomegranates are supposed to be the most healthy food ever. So adding it to cider (the best drink ever) is a double win. Throw in some lemon and spice and you’re all set.

hot-spiced-cider-1Hot Spiced Cider from Jen’s Favorite Cookies

Cider is probably the reason fall is my favorite season. I only buy cider from 2 local cider mills, both close on Christmas Eve and then I have to wait for fall again. Instead of being sad I spend 4 months  drinking as much cider as possible, my favorite way is hot with spices just like this recipe.

Applejack Hot Toddy from Tipsy Chickens

Remember when I said Applejack was my favorite? Well I turned it into a hot toddy with cinnamon, orange and maple syrup. The chai gives it an extra boost of spice to warm you up this winter.

 Sleepy Time Hot Toddy

Keep this one on hand for all those post-holiday party colds! Chamomile tea and whiskey will put you to sleep while the honey, lemon and ginger give you an extra immune boost.
