Halloween is Friday. Let that sink in. How’s you’re decorating going? If you’ve got 10 minutes, 3 dollars and a roll of twine take note because I’m about to hook you up with a SUPER easy and fast Halloween banner.
When you walk into my home the first thing you see is a red bookshelf with a giant frame on it. During the fall I had the fingerprint tree from our wedding on display but I wanted to change it up. The frame is filled with a piece of foam core board covered in burlap so I knew what ever I added had to be light weight.
Today I’ve got a project that fits on the cute side of Halloween and as a special bonus: No Spiders! I bought a bunch of these tall birdhouses 2 summers ago from Michael’s for less than a quarter a piece. I decided on a trio because it’s easier to decorate with three of something and because it worked out with mixing up the colors, I’ll cover that later.
This event features bunch of my fellow bloggers, and I’m really excited to be kicking off burlap week. If you missed last week the theme was Buttons and you can check out the tutorials over at The CSI Project and My Favorite Finds.
When I picked burlap I knew I wanted to do something a little different. I’ve already covered half my house (and roughly 3/4 of my wedding) with the stuff and I wanted to step out of usual box. I have a 45 minute drive home everyday and this little gem popped into my head on the way home one day.
The card on the left is matte brown ink, the right is embossed with dark brown.
I started with:
one failed painting, 4 mini wooden picket fences, blue and white paint, green vinyl, white buttons, spring-y paper, hot glue and my Slice.
I love how it turned out but I have no idea where to put it!
