Dogwood & Dahlia Autumn Wreath

I went into Michael’s with a whole list of Halloween projects planned out, naturally I left with a bag of flowers for this autumn wreath and nothing for Halloween. No matter how hard I try to plan things it never, ever goes the way I think it will. Over the years I’ve made more wreaths than any one person should so I was feeling pretty blank when I realized I needed something new this year for the fall. The only thing we managed to finish in Mary’s nursery before she was born was painting the walls and her dresser. Now that she’s 2 and the next one is half baked I figured it was time I stepped it up and put together some art for her room. I came up with this idea about a year ago when I found a fancy pack of ladybug brads but they disappeared into the black hole of my sisters car. A recent trip to Michael’s revealed that they have all of their scrap booking brads on clearance (no lady bugs though) so it seemed time to finally put together the floral monogram I had planned for her room.

Floral Kissing Ball – Christmas In July

I’ve always loved kissing balls but I’ve never had a good place to hang one so I never bothered to make one. This year I was looking though the spring clearance flowers at Joann’s (they were all marked down to $1.29, how could I not look?) and I found three bunches of red ranunculus looking flowers. I also picked up a few other things to make up this happy ball of flowers.

When we were cleaning for Mary’s baptism party I finally got around to taking the mini-Christmas trees off the buffet.  That left a pretty sad spot so I took a wander through the clearance aisle of Michael’s. I ended up with a pile of things that matched the wall… So I pulled out my bag of tricks and got to work
